Default Need advice - where to do medicals?

Hi,

I am on 457 visa and in Australia (Melbourne) since last ~2 yrs
I am going on vacation to India in the month of Feb

Is it OK if I do medicals in India? (for the cost reasons)
Or is it mandatory that I must do that in Australia itself?

Please advice

Thanks in advance

Hi bhagya_nair,

of course you can arrange to take your health examinations in India. You could also go to Medibank Health Solutions in Australia. Either way is fine.

Hi ,

yeah, you are right :/. I'm really not sure about that... what if you applied onshore but had to go abroad for a work assignment for an extended period of time? I'm not sure, if the handling would be that strict.

It also says on http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/panel-doctors/:
Quote:
Where a listing for a country or an area within a country does not appear, you should attend the closest panel physician or contact your case officer for further advice.
I personally know people who went to a neighbor country (in our case Germany instead of Austria) for their medicals because it was more convenient for them. The examinations were scheduled, conducted and processed without any problem. However, they applied overseas so that might be different.

You could try to contact Global Health in Sydney or DIAC via phone. Or you could for your CO to be assigned (hopefully before your trip to India).

Sorry I could not help much...
Monika

If you have done medical here in australia, you will get that envelope. You need to show them only upon the request. But dont open them. Medibank will forward them
