As anyone been approved for Act sponsorship? How us the job market here and the cost of living? My husband is eligible to apply only to this state sponsorship.
I'm on ACT SS but has yet to move over to Canberra. Jobs there are mostly in the government although there are other jobs non citizens can apply for. Check on SEEK.com. Then again, like every other job sites, some are bogus.
As PR, we are eligible to apply for state government jobs. From what I understand, the cost of living in Canberra is higher than Melbourne though I dont think it will be that much. What's your husband's profession?
Do you mean you got your visa approved already thru ACT SS?
How much is the required financial capacity to declare? Did rhey ask for supporting documents?
You mentioned about jobs, I've read from other forum that it's difficult to find jobs there as they require security clearance which is for citizens only. How true is this?

Yes. I hv got mine approved already. Just hasn't move over yet. When I applied I only had to declare I hv more than Aud30k but was not asked to submit proof.
It is true that jobs are hard to come by and majority requires security clearance. However there are still other jobs that do not require the clearance. PR is eligible to apply for state government positions. Only the federal government positions are out of bound coz we are not citizen.

I guys we r going to file for act state sponsorship;we r going to be on489 visa hence how difficult is.. to survive ;we r not on pr status. We r concerned if we can manage to get jobs with this visa status.
My progession is that. Of financial advisor and my husband is general electrician.appreciate if some one can give us right idea
I am not entirely sure what your entitlements are when you said you are on 489. Not familiar with the numbers other than 175, 176, 457. I am aware that these were old numbers used as reference for the various visas. Anyway, to cut the story short, a lot of employers out there look for candidates with the right to live/work in Aus. Hence, if you have a PR, that'd be better. Do look at the jobsites and research the requirements. All the best!
