Default Renting in Perth - Airconditioning

Do you guys think it is essential while looking for a house in Perth that the bedrooms are air conditioned? Most of the ads I am seeing dont mention air conditioning in the bedroom, just mainly in the living room. Now my guess is that the summer in Perth is very hot, so how does one manage without air conditioning?

I would say that yes, you do need a/c in the bedrooms and living areas. Temperatures can reach 40+ degrees in Perth in the summer and without a/c or at least a fan, it'll be impossible for you to sleep.

Most new properties will have a split a/c or reverse cycle system, which enables you to heat up the house during winter and cool it down during summer. If you can, look for house that have reverse cycle running a/c running on gas as those running on electricity can be quite costly to run, especially in the summer.

Failing that, buy a few fans and makes sure that the windows have a security screen on them as you will need to open them at night if you have no a/c to at least let some cool air inside.

I have never tried them but yes, they should work. I guess that it all comes down to how powerful they are and choosing one that is ideal for the size of the property/ room that you wish to cool down.

Shops like Bunnings would also stock them.

I have a portable AC for back up, if the AC system is down. Used once for the past 4 years.
I's a bit troublesome to arrange for the hot air discharge and the noise is killing. Like a helicopter in yoir room.

So, by hook or by crook, try to get a split or window AC.
