Default Status of application

Hi
I have just checked my application and in the top section is shows "Application received by the Department. Processing of this application has commenced."
What does it suggest, specially the part processing has commenced.
Does it mean that case officer has been assigned or just a plain suggestion that they have received application ?
Please advise.

It simply means that your application has been received. Typically, this is what your application defaults to when you lodge it online.

Normally, when you are assigned a case officer, the status will change to 'Application being processed further' and depending on the CO, you may also notice that that the status of some of your documents have been updated to either 'Received' or 'Met', depending on how far the CO has got with reviewing and assessing the documentary evidence that you included with your application.

Do keep an eye on the DIAC website though, as they publish their progress, so you will get an idea of when you can expect to be allocated a case officer.
