Default Points Clarification - Australia

Hi,

I just wanted to get some clarification around the point system. I am a systems administrator and went through the ACS assessment. I am told by my agent that I was awarded the full 8 years for my experience. I just wanted to get clarification relating to my points whilst I wait for my official letter.

My points this far include:

IELTS - 10 points
Age - 25 points
Skilled nominated (state sponsorship) 10 points

This comes to 45 points. Now, the fact that the ACS awarded me the complete 8 years experience (overseas work experience), I have 2 questions:

1. The ACS assessment - Do I get the 10 points from the ACS just for having a positive assessment? and then an additional 20 points for 8 Years experience? This would total 30 points.

2. The term "Overseas Work Experience", does this mean work experience outside of Australia?

If yes to both questions, that would bring my total score to 70?

Clarification would be greatly appreciated as I just cannot wait until I speak to my agent next week!

Thanks

Oakley

hi ,

No confusion .

1. for bachelor degree - 15 points
for diploma - 10 points from your education

2. 8 years experience - 15 points ( outside Australia )

3. IELTS - 10 points ( if score 7 in each model )

4. age 33 to 39 - 25 points

5. State sponsorship - 5 points under 190 visa & 10 points under 489 visa .

Please go through Department of Immigration & Citizenship website for further clarification. Don't go blindly to the consultant . Just go through the details as mentioned in the official au website .
good luck .

Now I am even more confused. I thought the whol idea of an RPL was to see if I had the equivelent experience to that of a person who holds a bachelors degree in comp science?

so i will re-phrase the question and just hope somebody can clarify:

1. How many points do I get for a positive skills assessment from the ACS with over8 years experience awarded?

2. Do I get any points for for proving that I have the equivilent experience to that of a bachelors in comp science?

I have no formal qualification which is why I took the RPL route so I am just trying to understand what the maximum amount of points i will be awarded for this. I spoke to my agent this AM and was told that I am short of points all of a sudden which which #$%^ me off.

Points i know I have are:

IELTS - 10
Age - 25

Any advise at this stage would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Oakley
