Default Shipping costs??

Hi all, me and other half and our 2 kids are thinking (very strongly!) about moving out to Australia, we've phoned/emailed some agents for quotes and have printed off reams of info off the internet about what we need to do and I've started putting together some paperwork ready.
Anyway, for our little info pack I was wondering what the average/aprox cost would be to ship us out there? We're a 3 bed house family so furniture and personal possessions basically. Just looking for an aproximation of what you guys spent, think we might be looking at going to Brisbane. Also would our electrical goods work ok out there? We've lived in Tenerife before which was different on the electrics so was wondering about that, obviously if not it would cut down on what it was worth taking with us..........!

Hi, we are also just in the beginning stages but I have had some quotes for shipping. overseasremovers and doreebonner (I wasn't allowed to put web links on but they are the usual www---co uk format) have been the cheapest for us £500-£700 for personal possessions and a few bulkier items e.g bikes. If you just google 'shipping to australia' you will be able to find more sites and they usually have lists for you to complete to give details of what you want to take and they will email you back. I think for a full 2 bedroom house move it was about £2000 for a container. Not sure if you have been to Oz, we have been a couple of times and the electricals we took worked but you would need adaptors for everything as the plugs are different. I have heard though that UK TV's don't work, not sure if that is even true but if it is it may be because the electrical current is slightly less I think.
