It looks like you know what you want to do. I didn't use any agent for any process of my visa application so I am not sure what their role is. Did you not have approval process of what documents get submitted to AIM? What I mean is the agent didn't inform you this is how I will submit your application and documents to AIM, do you approve?

What did your agent have to put down to describe your role? Was he/she supposed to include other documents? Or how the information was written? Were you provided at least copies of all the documents your agent sent to AIM? For anything important like having your skills assessed, I would have assumed you requested copies. If you can see the documents, then you will know if your agent messed up your application. Otherwise, you really will not know.

Good luck and do what you think is best in your situation.

My experience with my agent was that he explained what AIM was looking for and then I had to get the documents drafted from my employers. So not sure what the agent can or cannot do. Ultimately it all comes down to what you do in your job and how closely does it match AIM requirements. AM. Requires that you work at a senior level preferably reporting to CEO and managing managers not just in your own function but across. They look at how complex was the role that you managed and what was your span of decision making and how long have you been doing it ( three years if you have relevant qualifications and five years if you dont) and second guessing AIM assessment is next to impossible. Your friends colleague's experience is too distant to be a reference point.
