Default Perth - Job Market for Project Managers

Hi,

I am Project Manager in IT Infrastructure Domain with 10+ years of IT experience (Although non-technical) - Can any one let me know how is the job market in Perth.

I did see a good number of openings is Perth however not sure about the way the market is there - Do they actually look for people with Technical background ??

The worst part is that ACS has recognised my skills as a CIO , will this impact my job hunt by any means ?

Employers are only interested in your knowledge, skills, experience and the fact you have the right to live and work legally in Australia. ACS skills assessment means absolutely nothing to them and will be quite irrelevant to your job search. Once you have your visa, just forget about the skills assessment and what it says.

IT is very slow in Perth at the mo - to be honest, most of the major IT companies operate out of Sydney and Melbourne and that's where you will find the most openings and job opportunities. Bear in mind that the market can change very quickly - you could go from seeing a lot of openings to seeing none and vice versa in a matter of weeks.

Perth is currently going through a mining boom, so from a job perspective, it's a gold mine only for those who specialise in mining. For others working in other industries, be aware that in general the markets are slow and there is a lot of competition for jobs.

Employers value local experience and if you have none, it is better to locate to a state where there are more jobs, hence giving you a fighting chance against those who have that much desired local experience.
