Default Deciding Where To Live?

My family is trying to get to Austrilia for safety and many reasons due to the USA. I and my daughter which is 4 years old will have to come over 1st then my husband after he completes his job obligations.

Where is the best place to live that has organic grocery stores, stores like a walmart, good schools since my child has a high IQ for such a small age and a place that is easy to blend and feel welcomed? This will be my 1st time to live in a new country.

Im a little nervous.. we are selling everything to get there. Where do I buy a car, and all the stuff a family needs to live.

Im looking for friends to meet so when I get there Im not lost and lonely. Anyone willing to help me to help my daughter.

Thanks for all replies and Im excited and proud that one country can do it right!

THanks,
HOPE FOR US

Hi Hopeforus,

For organic grocery stores I think it depends on what you want to buy. Our local supermarket (Coles - a well known Aussie supermarket) has some organic fruit and veg but there isn't a wide choice but we are in a regional area. You'll probably be better off in a large city where you'll get more choice.

I can't help with schools since I don't have kids. There is a link to the schools website in the "PLEASE READ..." post towards the top of the forum.

Easy to blend depends on what you mean. I've been here 15 months and as soon as I open my mouth people know I'm not a local It also depends on your attitude. We got out and about and joined clubs and we've felt welcome everywhere but we had to go out of our way to meet new people. We've found that everyone has been helpful here.

You buy everything that you need when you get here from local places. If you want to buy a car online then try Used Cars - New Cars - Search New & Used Cars For Sale - carsales.com.au but otherwise try your local car dealers.

Please don't think that everything over in Oz is perfect since it isn't. It's a lot better than some countries but I don't want you thinking that it's a perfect country from what you said about a country getting it right. If people come over with hopes too high they may be disappointed!

Have you already got your visas?

Regards,
Karen

Default Waiting On Visa's

We are waiting for our visa's Karen. I think Ill get it since Aussie is desperate for hairdressors and that is my field. Jsut waiting.

My thing is for my daughter. She is on a gluten free diet and needs certain food. Im worried on finding stores that can do that for her.

My husband wants Tasmania since its surround my water he thinks its safer but Im not sure like you the weather is ok.

I want a city that has good schools, good grocery stores for my daughter, low crime and alot of to do.

How is the library system there? We love getting movies from the library?

Thanks Karen

Try a search online and see if you can find any more info about gluten free food stores. We certainly have some gluten free stuff in our Coles supermarket but I'm not sure of the range.

Here's a link for Coles - I used postcode 3006 since that is central Melbourne and I would have thought a pretty big store

https://www.colesonline.com.au/webap...s:ShowWebStore

There is a store in Launceston but the population is less than about 7,000 so I'm not sure how big it will be. Our Coles services an area of about 25,000 people.

Tasmania is safer how? Crime? Here are some statistics on crime websites
Statistical sources - Tasmania [Statistics]

Regional areas can have crime problems just like anywhere else.

You can rent movies from the Library although I think video stores have a better selection.

Regards,
Karen
