Hi,

Do a search as there are quite a few brickies who post on here so you'll probably find your answers there!

Hi billbophead,

Also check out any websites for jobs for brickies to see if there have been any changes in the job market.

The interest rate went down by 1% here last week to keep things moving. The banks here are far more stable than the UK and there weren't as many sub-prime mortgages sold.

Regards,
Karen

Hi Billbophead

I work for a large construction company Laing O'Rourke and they have offices in Brisbane and Sydney as well as the UK, Dubi etc. Your right the building industry is at a standstill in the UK so im moving to Oz with the company. In Brisbane its construction is booming!! with the new Trilogy tower, and a few other skyscapers, colleges, etc just beginning in the centre of Brisbane there will be alot of work. Also a few friends from Goldcoast have just been staying with me and he renovates houses etc and there is alot of work in the housing sector too.

Hi

Im not sure as im a Planner and not on the tools but i've just looked on their website, in the career opportunites section and they are advertising for Trade Assistants?? so that could be any trade i guess.
You can check out their website Laing O'Rourke - Intelligent Thinking Intelligent Construction and have a look.

I havent got a contact for Trade. But have a fish about. It will also give you an idea of how many projects are starting up over there unlike here
