the initial entry date is usually 1 yr from med or pcc date which is same for 175 as well. 176 is granted for 5 yr but if you stay in Aus beyond that 5 yr you will not see any issues but when you want to exit and enter again after that 5 yr period is when you need a resident return visa because you PR might have expired by that time

Initial entry should be within one year from the date of your PCC or Meds (whichever is the latest). 176 PR has indefinite validity. However, beyond 5 years, you need to obtain an RRV or Citizenship to re-enter AUS.

Although steps 3 & 4 can be done before 2, it is better to wait till CO's request for PCC and Meds. CO will give you 28 days to provide the same (or reply with a convincing reason for any delay beyond that). In India, usually we can obtain both within 10-15 days.

You will have to choose from either of the two states bcoz you cannot apply for 2 separate 176 visas...

3. If he wishes to have the 176 for both these states, can he do so?

Also please let me know which among Melbourne & Sydney has better job prospects for Software Developers(261312)?

I have already received +ve sponsorship from Victoria & thought to also apply for NSW-SS before applying for 176.

Awaiting reply

Thanks Lifesgood.
I am sticking to Vic SS due to shortage of time.

What's the timeline taken to grant Visa for State sponsorship holders?
Congrats Chaitanya.

I am new in this forum. Just joined today.

My agent applied for my Vic state sponsorship for 475 visa on 07/04/2012
and informed me that it takes 1 or 2 weeks to get a reference number.
Does it really take so long?

My job code from the skill assessment is that of software engineer and with
skill in SAP Technical module.
I have submitted my +ve ACS and IELTS TRF with overal 8 and > 7 in all modules
for SS approval.

Does it really take entire 12 weeks for a decision as mentioned in their website?
Is the delay due to getting feedback from ICT industry body regarding suitability
of an application?
Is is possible to track the status of our application for Vic SS like
SA SS?

Appreciate if you can share your thoughts.

Cheers !

Mark

Hi mark001,

I am not the right person to comment on 475,
I would answer queries related to 176.
Wait until a more senior expat comments on ur status.
