Default How's Brisbane compared to Melbourne?

Hi All,

I recent contacted one company in Melbourne and they said that there is an assignment in Brisbane.
Now I am on 176 Visa for Victoria.
I am sure companies can do settings to move me to Brisbane by showing that my base location would be Melbourne.

My question is, How is Brisbane as compared to Melbourne in terms of lifestyle?
And how's the pay package there? Is it more/less than Melbourne?

Can you guys suggest me whether I should take this opportunity or not.

Regards,
Harshal.

Well Brisbane and Melbourne are 2 different type of cities. The weather is different in QLD, the lifestyle is different, more diverse and compacted in Melbourne, but Brisbane is an up and coming city and a nice laid back lifestyle compared to Melbourne.

Pay package is less compared to Melbourne, but rent is significantly cheaper. I would say its about 10-12% less than melbourne. Also, It really depends on your needs to whether to take the job in Brisbane. If you have a family, they will enjoy Brisbane. Lots of family friendly places, beach is close by, etc. you almost need a car to move around Brisbane, where Melbourne you can get by without one.

Not sure if this is along the lines of what your question is asking......

Brisban is cheaper as compared to melbourne, Housing is a lot cheaper, cost of living otherwise is more or less the same, the pay packages are lower as well as compared. check Hays salary guide, you will get an idea about the same

Ash and Anjali,

Thanks for quick turn around.
Now I have following doubts:

As I mentioned earlier, I am on 176 Victoria.
My company will do setting for me in Brisbane.
But how bout Vic state migration Govt.? I have to keep updating them about my stay and job address change and other things.
How do I tackle that?

Not only this, my family also has Vic SS. So how can they enter into Brisbane?

Even if I buy a car or rent a place or be it anything else, address has to be in Vic becoz I have 176 SS.....correct me if I am wrong.....

Would you guys suggest me to talk to some lawyers?
I inquired few lawyers and they charge 100-150$ for attending us.

Regards,
Harshal.

Hi,

Any idea about education in Brisbane?
Is it better in Melbourne or Brisbane?

Which are the demerits of Brisbane against Melbourne?

Regards,
Harshal.
