Hi Andy,

Check out the quarantine and inspection regs at Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service - DAFF

Furniture was okay - we declared everything wooden which is what you have to do anyway.

Garden / workshop tools - everything had to be thoroughly clean. My husband even went as far as re-painting some of it. Anything we couldn't get spotless clean or there could be earth still trapped in it we didn't bring since we didn't think it would get through.

Anything that was bare wood we had varnished or didn't bring it with us.

Regards,
Karen

Yep, it's a real pain but you're outdoor furniture/tools (even shoes) have to be scrupulously clean. We too varnished some wooden furniture.

It takes a lot of time, a lot of effort but will save you a lot of money if the guys in quarantine deem some of your items will need 'cleaning' before release (or even destroying) because they don't think the items are clean enough.
