Default Having no joy with recruitment agencies in perth

Hi I wonder if anyone else has experienced the same. Husband is due to go to Perth on a 457 visa in July so I have been emailing my cv to various agencies. I don't seem to be getting any response at all. I am a business analyst/ test analyst. Has anyone else experienced this?

They won't be much interested until you are in the country. They don't want to create work for themselves for someone who may or may not yet turn up!

Hi,
Its not only in Perth. Everywhere in AUS they are specific about your CV. They look for similarities in your work, domain knowledge and whether it is 100% matching. And even if it is 100% matching they will ask for Local experience or look for Localites. Only few lucky people with rare techonologies will get job easily in AUS. It will take atleast 5 to 6 months to get a job.
Try to make your CV in Aus format and here they prefer cover letter to be more informative. So prepare a good cover letter with details of your experience and skills. I have seen cover letters of one page in AUS. So go for it.
You need to have a very good rapo with consultancies in AUS so they will show you good opportunities. Even they suggest you regarding CV and CoverLetter also.

A lot of agencies also require you to attend their offices and they conduct an interview before they agree to represent you. The fact that you are abroad will make that process impossible.

You should spend the time you have before you move to perfect your CV and research potential employers and agencies who specialise in your line of work. Once you arrive and have a local contact number, then you can start sending out your CV again. Most agents prefer to communicate by phone, so a local contact numbers means that they will actually call you back.

My partner had the same problem, they are not interested until you are here and able to start work. My advice would be to just look at the job sites and asses the market. Keep an eye out for the same agents/agencies that post jobs of interest to you and make them your first port of call when you arrive. Enjoy the next few months with family and friends and try not to worry too much. There's not a whole lot you can do until you arrive, so just enjoy yourself.

Even when I tried from my home country applying for few jobs, I have completed the final interview by video conference. But they preferred localites as they are available immediately. I thought if I would have been there and tried for those, I might have selected.

No one will care until you are physically on the ground. As for jobs in your industry and sector in Perth, there aint many. Expect it to be very difficult. Some jobs are easy to get (mainly jobs that aussies won't do like trades etc) other industries are just as tight/competitive as the UK or US. It aint getting any better here as well.
