Hi,

Quick question - I have been on a 457 visa with my current employer for 14 months now and he has told me he will sponsor me for PR after 24 months - will whatever is happening on 01-Jul-12 affect my sponsorship in 10 months time - or is it unrelated ?? Just want to get it clear in my own mind ?? Thanks TJ

If the employer is not offering to apply for sponsorship before July 2012 then you will have to comply with the new system of skill select. It wont effect your current 457 though.

No I wouldnt have thought so because you hae a sponsor willing and able to pick up your application when you apply through skill select. Its the independent applicants that will face hassle trying to rush to make an application when DIAC asks them to submit an application!
