Hi,

I have just got a job in Houston and am looking to move my family here.
I have a son who is in his first year A levels and daughter who is in her first year of GCSEs.
I want to disrupt as little as possible and to do this I want them to continue studying A Levels and GCSEs. Are there any schools in Houston that they can do this? I know of the British School but are there any others?

Many thanks in advance

The British international School of Houston is the only one known to me that does GCSEs and A Levels. However, you should be aware that subject choices are limited at A Level, and there has been a suggestion that they may drop A Levels immediately the future.
Other private schools, such as Awty and the Village School primarily offer the International Baccalaureate.

In North America, the school year runs Late August/September - June, so you can contact your local school after you get settled in April... they should be able to tell you when you can enroll your daughter for the '15-'16 school year (usually August) and what day is the first day of school - some jurisdictions in North America start in August while other areas start in September, on the Tuesday after the first Monday in September (this year Labour Day is 07 September, so first day back would be 08 September)... your daughter's new school will give you the exact date.

If you are able to get your daughter's most recent report card, the school can probably also tell you what year she'll be placed in starting in September.

Good luck to you and have a safe journey.
