Can anyone recommend a good tax attorney or an accountant that specializes in overseas accounts in the New York City area? It's clear I need some professional advice.

Thanks

I agree it doesn't seem right to me either, which is why I posed the question. Although, under my most recent scenario, the UK Company will be making payment to my US account and I will be a self employed contractor in the US and submit invoices to the UK company from the US. I will indeed be travelling to the UK a minimum of 1 week a month but I don't believe US citizens are bared from doing that as a visitor. I will not be establishing residency in the UK, where that could be viewed as falsifying circumstances.

Thanks all for the input.

It's an expensive way to go, but for international matters like this I usually prefer to rely on one of the big international accounting firms (though I should admit I used to work for one of them). At the very least, they have associates overseas in the UK with whom they can check both sides of the issue.
Cheers,
Bev

I think this probably will work better. I worked on a similar basis for a UK company a few years ago - submitting invoices and working as a "contractor" but without the periodic visits to the UK. If your visits get "too frequent" the immigration agents will start to raise issues on your arrival to the UK, but as far as I know, you should have no UK tax liability until and unless you establish some form of residency there.
Cheers,
Bev
