Hi Kieran, and welcome to the forum.

First of all, have you decided where you want to go - either in terms of the region within the US, or the specific schools you are interested in?

The first step is normally to apply to a few schools (just in case you can't get into your first choice for any reason) - and it's getting late in the season for applications if you want to start this coming fall (i.e. September, 2008).

The universities generally have a department dedicated to their international students, and they will be able to give you all the details on getting the visa you need, housing options and all the other details once you have been accepted for admission.

With a few more details about what your plans are and how far along you are in the process, we might be able to give you a bit more information.
Cheers,
Bev

I'm not sure there is a list anywhere of ALL the universities in the US, though there are plenty of books published giving ratings and listings.

If you're interested in a particular subject like Sport Science, you may want to try and identify the US professional associations for the profession. (There will be several - at least.) The websites for the professional associations may have some lists of colleges and universities that offer majors in the field.

With this being a big Olympic year, try checking the website for the US Olympic teams. They may have some indications, too, of where the various coaches and other personnel got their degrees.

Unfortunately, there isn't any uniformity of how the various schools title their programs. At the university I attended, "sports science" would probably be handled mostly by the HPER department (HPER = health, physical education and recreation), unless you were into something like sports medicine, which would be part of the medical school.
Cheers,
Bev
