Default Moving to the States as a partner of a US Citizen?

Hey all, I've been looking through the forums but can't see any threads that have any light on my situation so hopefully someone out there has an answer!

I'm an New Zealand national currently in NZ with my partner who's a US citizen, he's here on a 'Partnership Visa' sponsored by me as we've been in a de facto relationship for almost 3 years now. We're thinking of moving to the US next year but the only similar application I've been able to find on the US immigration website is for a 'Fiancé Visa' - is this correct?

Is it possible for him to sponsor me as his partner (without any intention to get married within a 90 day time frame!) rather than fiancé?

Any info will be much appreciated, thanks

The simple answer is: no.

Most consulate websites include something like the following (though it can be tricky to find):
Embassy of the U.S. London: Co-Habiting Partners

Cheers,
Bev

If you plan to work - marriage unless you have professional qualifications which make it possible for you to go an employer based visa route.

If you're thinking of moving to the US next year, you should be starting your initial filing round about now.

K1 fiancée visa if your planning to marry in the US OR
CR1 immigrant visa if you marry before you come.
