Default Small Business Owner, hire UK boyfriend??

Hi,

So I've been with my boyfriend on and off for the last 2 1/2 years. Someday we would like to be married but we've never lived in the same country and had an opportunity to date properly or see each other on a regular day-to-day basis rather than a holiday-like setting.

He's been trying for the last year+ to get a work visa and move out here, applying to various jobs. Unfortunately nothing has panned out and continues to appear that it won't.

We don't want to jump the gun and rush into marriage just so he can move here.

I was wondering. I'm a small business owner myself. Would it be possible to hire him on as an employee? It wouldn't be fraudulent or false. I can truly use his assistance maintaining my properties and investments, I wouldn't want to hire anyone else as I don't feel comfortable trusting my finances to strangers.

Is this an option? How does one go about trying to hire someone from overseas? Or would it affect us negatively should we eventually decide we would like to get married?

Please work your way through the employer side on H1B on uscis.gov. You cannot find a qualified employee authorized to work in the US to handle the books?

My family has had many issues with employees stealing and falsifying information. It's an ongoing occurance due to the location of our business being in a low income area, everyone's looking for ways to get ahead. I'd really like to include my boyfriend in the family business as this would give him an opportunity to move here and would also provide us with assistance from someone who will is directly affected by the growth of the business.

But thank you for the reply, I didn't realize there was another section. I will repost there.

Every small business has employee related issues. You have to go the legal route. Once you have assembled the necessary documentation it will be April 2013 for approval and October 2013 for start of employment if application has been granted. Financial burdens have been left aside.

Start here: U.S. Department of Labor - Find It By Topic - Hiring - Foreign Workers

But the process to hire a foreigner is not easy, nor is it cheap.
Cheers,
Bev
