Exclamation Relocating cost question

Hi

This is my first post and i hope you can help, I have decided to move to the US San Francisco in particular, i have a potential job but there is a lot the company and i have to do before i can get the actual offer and apply for my visa. The company has said that there is a large cost assosciated to having me do the job rather than a US citizen, would you know where i can find out the actual cost and process?

I know also they have to prove that i am more qualified for the role than a US citizen, im very aware that the job it self could be done by a US citizen but the reason they are looking at me is that i worked for them before for 5 years so do have immediate relevant experience.....

So i hope you can help me and i can move to the Country i love!

Thank you

One step at a time. Will the company hire you under H1B or an other visa?

The cost to hire you is part of the hiring process and is of no concern to you. If the company believes your skills and expertise are what they are looking for and need, then that cost is something they will absorb into their normal running costs.

If you are attempting to find out these costs in order to re-imburse the company in exchange for them getting you the work visa then this is both unethical and from the company's point of view illegal.

The company applies for the visa not you.

Hi Crawford

Thanks for your reply. Its out of interest why i ask the question as i wondered if this cost would have to be paid by me in the end. I understand not from your email, so thankyou.
Would you know of the criteria i would need to provide if i were to move through a sponsership such as .... do i need a certain amount of cash in my bank already, will they run a credit check, references etc? Id like to know so i can prepare before hand to hopefully make the process quicker.
Also i have two cousins in CA i could apply for a visa based on that or is it more likely ill get a visa through being sponsored.Ihave my heart set of relocating to San Francisco and i just want to make sure im doing everything i can to make it happen.
thank you for your help again!

Have you gone through the stickies and some of the older posts? No:>)
travel.state.gov and uscis.gov are the official sites and pretty much walk you through options, requirements ...
To get your "own" visa: investment of 500k at risk, marriage to US citizen, diversity lottery, sponsorship by immediate family member. Investment in form of a business can be iffy as your renewal depends on it being in the perimeters of the visa.
A job offer does not necessarily mean the company will sponsor a visa once they are confronted with proceedures/costs.
Of course you need cash to start out: deposits for everything from housing to cell phone, basic needs from shampoo to coffee, drivers license, insurances, vehicle purchase/registration ... the list is endless.
All we can do is guess as we have no information on your professional qualifications. Just FYI - there is more to the US then CA:>)

I think there are certain points on which you can measure you relocation cost.

1.Moving to a high-density city,is more expensive than a city that has more accessible road transportation.
2. Companies vary on prices,so you can compare different moving company price and services, One company might be cheaper for one city, but more expensive for another.
3.It is expensive to hire movers comparatively a truck.
4.Moving cost also depends on your stuff,so reduce moving costs is to move less stuff.
