Passport- Name Change Help!!

Hey! So I'm a little confused. My UK passport runs out in July 2013- that's not really a problem in fact is. Excellent. The problem I'm facing is changing my name to my married one, before I send it off. My fiance and I are to wed later this year (hoping I get back into America) maybe August and I will bring my US wedding cert back to the UK with me.
I know that non- UK weddings aren't recognised, so will the UK passport office use my US wedding licence as proof for the name change?? I want it renewed and in my new name before I get my spouse visa and leave permanently, as paying £77 for renewal one month and then another for a name change is a bit ridiculous.

Any ideas??
