Hi Debbie,

Our migration agent cost us a few thousand pounds (can't remember exactly what) but we had fairly complicated arrangements with property, companies and pensions.

I think whether people are welcomed depends on your attitude. I remember seeing a Get a New Life style program a few years ago where some people has a BBQ but only invited Brits and no locals - that's bound to cause problems.
There aren't loads of Brits were we are but there are immigrants from all over and we've not had any problems. Even when we were thinking about moving here people were really helpful when we told them that we might be moving here. If you are open and friendly and prepared to get out there and mix I think Aussies will be the same. There may be the odd idiot as in any culture

There are still bills to pay and work to do but we can do the short drive down to the beach, or go see the local wildlife at the park and that puts everything into perspective.

Regards,
Karen
