Default owning land in the Philippines?

I heard that you can own land in the Philippines as an American. You have to first marry a filipina. Then get permanent residency. After five years you can become a naturalized Philippine citizen. Then you can buy and own land in the Philippines. As a naturalized citizen you can't, however, run for certain political offices. But who would want to do that anyway. If you take your oath to become a Philippine citizen, the Philippine government will allow you to have dual citizenship. You have to check with your country of birth to see if they allow dual citizenship also. Most Filipinos look at me as if i'm crazy to want to become a Filipino citizen when there are millions of Filipinos getting out of there in a moments notice. My only reason would be to be able to purchase land. If anyone knows different you can correct me here.
