1) Physical residence in Australia.

Being resident in Australia for at least two years in the period of five years (only permanent residence may be counted) immediately before renewing your visa application will greatly enhance your eligibility for the visa subclass 155 Resident Return visa (RRV).

2) If you are not able to meet the above residence requirement, you may still be eligible for the RRV if you can evidence substantial ties such as business, cultural, employment or personal ties with Australia.

Examples of business ties:

b) Being involved in an ongoing business activity which generates revenue for Australia.

a) Cultural pursuits conducted at a professional level (with a degree of public recognition) which enrich life in Australia, raise profile of Australian achievements overseas or increase international goodwill or respect for Australia.


Employment Ties
Examples of employment ties:
a) Employed in Australia by an Australian company.
b) Acceptance of a formal offer of employment in Australia.
c) Employed outside Australia by Australian organisations.
d) Employed by an organisation whose activities are beneficial to Australia.


Personal Ties
Examples of personal ties:
a) Long term residence in Australia before the five years prior to the application.
b) Ownership of a home or other major personal assets in Australia.
c) Close family members who are Australian citizens or permanent residents living in Australia.

* Evidence to demonstrate ties with Australia is assessed on a case by case basis.
