Guys, We need some advice. I am in IT and my company is willing to apply for 457 for me and my family. They said it could be anywhere from 1-4 year visa.

If everything pans out and we get the 457, my wife will be on 457 spousal visa. Is that true? My wife is an IT consultant also. Can she be able to work in IT with this visa or does she have to apply for 175 when she lands in Australia? If so, how long would it take to get the Visa? Also, while working on 457, can me or my wife apply for 175 on side?

Someone on this forum said- 457 is a temporary visa, that means, there is no automatic permanent residency. Is that correct? If so, what is our option to get permanent residency while both of us working at the same time?
