I hope your savings are savings, not the contents of an IRA or 401K. I speak from sad experience, keep those intact, and always contribute the maximum possible.
Other than that caveat, all you are really doing is taking a break from work to travel. Not as interesting as spending the winter in Southeast Asia or Argentina, but to each his own.

They are savings yes, thanks for your help but as you said to each his own and I would rather be in Norway during the winter on vacation than Southeast Asia. I love snow.
