Default Staying in Paris - inexpensive Hotels

There's a website called EUROCHEAPO (are you allowed to put down the complete website? Well, it's the usual....) that is great for inexpensive but nice hotels. I personally LOVE the boutique HOTEL DU CHAMP DE MARS in the 7th district. The 25 rooms go for 75 or 85 Euros and are totally charming and SPOTLESS (and they have bathtubs !!) - always full so book early !!! It's less than half a block from RUE CLER which is a 6 day a week no cars, cobblestone busy and very colorful street market. The neighborhood is full of great restaurants, Bistros, bars, and cafes but is not super noisy at night or overly touristy (like the Latin Quarter for example). It feels like a village inside Paris. Travel writer Rick Steves is in love with this area and so is everybody that I've talked to that has stayed there. Safe, Clean, and Low Key - can't beat it.

Also check out Rick Steves books for other choices in the area. Also a website called ParisTripTips has hotel and Restaurant info. Oh and the Eiffel Tower is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the hotel (depends how slow/fast you walk). Metro station is ECOLE MILITAIRE (Line 8). 4 main bus routes stop 2 blocks from the hotel. Post Office, Cleaners, Self Serve Laundry, Market, Late night Market, and Book/Magazine/Newspaper shop all less than 5 minutes away. Been staying in this area since 1995 (have stayed all over Paris - from the 5th to the 11th to the 1st) and would never stay anywhere else - just a wonderful neighborhood. Zoom
