We are based near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I did not buy a business but opened a USA office for my Uk company which I own. The $$$ is king here so buying a business is not a problem if you have $$$. There is a minimum number of $$$ that you should invest that will sort of guarantee you a relevant Visa ( it used to be a million $) and maybe lead to a Green card. Please ... please see an Immigration attorney for updated information. Things change so fast. And be prepared for crazy beaurocracy and delays. I could write a book about it. No-one I know had a clear run at it or got a cheap deal. We are supposed to be their best ally - but the INS people and Visa branches have not been told that!
