It is relevant and the other day I read an article about the costs of holidays going up drastically and although you might have booked your holiday a year in advance, it doesn't mean you are exempt from the extra charges. Most people will find that in the small print, there is a clause stating that the taxes are subject to increases and you might find yourself with an extra bill prior to take-off. Therefore, some people might have to cancel, which means less people going to the bars and cafes in Spain etc.
I even read that America are suing the UK over these so called "green taxes" because at the end of the day, they are merely another way of exploiting money from honest people.
