Some countries will make a difference with the present US President and his policies and the american people in general.
The French media have a US complex and tend to attack them in a rather devious way - but in France Macdonalds are one of the most popular restaurants in spite of the " mal-bouffe " mouvements.
It all depends on you, on your attitude, and if you wish to settle, in the way you make efforts to integrate, in the way your participate to the life of the Community.
In the " France profonde " you do have for example to overcome the fact that some of the population thinks that Expats push up estate prices, and take thus do not allow young people to buy houses.
Think all this is not true - too long to explain here - it requires quite some
PR, over a longer period, to explain. You could say that GB Expats in France " conserve le patrimoine " and bring extra income to départments who have trouble of installing any sort of new industry.
