Default Seeking advice: where to work abroad?

Hello all,

I am DELIGHTED to have found this website. I've spent all day looking around bookshops in both the business section and the travel section but to no avail.

In a nutshell my husband and I (both in our mid twenties) would like to continue our careers abroad before returning to the UK (to have children) and would like some advice on what has worked for people and what has not. Ideally, after having at least our first child in the UK the plan is then to move to France to live and work for the foreseeable future.

He has just attained chartered status as a mechanical environmental engineer (basically designs heating, lighting, insulation for buildings from hospitals to schools to offices) and I am training to be a buyer for one of the major supermarkets.

We have both spent considerable time abroad; me through my French degree and him through being a semi-pro snowboarder for 5 years.

The kind of advice we're after is around how easy it is to continue our careers abroad (particularly for me as I presume it will be easier for my husband and his skills) and which countries will require us to speak the language or not. Also, to what extent does working in Europe (or wherever) better qualify us for when we relocate to France permanently? Berlin is looking the most likely in the next year as my husband's company require people out there - but what are the job prospects for me?? We are also attracted to French speaking Canada.

Any advice would be much appreciated!!!
