Hi there, I'm planning a move to Wellington as soon as I get my work visa and I have some general questions about all of the typical things such as cost of living, weather, etc. I have done enough research to know that Wellington is ridiculously windy (which scares me I must admit) but I'd love to hear from somebody who has lived there to find out exactly how often the wind is awful (I'm from Alaska so the rain and cold don't bother me much). As far as the cost of living I'd be interested in finding out what a sort of base salary for a comfortable lifestyle.

Wellington looks like a beautiful place and I've heard nothing but good things about the whole country!
