Hi, we used a company called par air to ship our dog out, I'll try and find their web address. I recommend using them or similar as the protocol for getting pets in is very strict. I think renting at first is a very good idea, it gives you time to settle in and evaluate the areas. Rushing into buying can be costly. The housing market is also slowing so I would advise a wait, you may get a better deal. I have found that if properties are advertising no pets, it's worth asking them if they would consider pets. If they think you will be good tenants they often reconsider. Some ask for an extra bond or that you have the carpets cleaned when you leave etc. 2 weeks in a hotel is also costly!!! Most tenancy agreements are for 3 months which would give you time to adjust a little and also have a good look around at properties etc. Good luck with your move.
