Hi, im new to this site and have been reading about life in Dominican Republic for a few weeks now.

I keep getting mixed reports regarding the quality of life here.

To be honest, I am looking to buy a business over there and have found a small one available that claims to make daily sales of $350. This seems to me to be a quite acceptable income but then I read that this isnt a particulary well-to-do area. Specifically Punta Cana.

I also read claims that it is advised to walk around with a fireweapon, can anyone clarify this for me please?
