Well, it really all depends on how hot you like your weather. If you like it hot, then it's Northern Queensland, Perth or Darwin - if you like it a little cooler then South Australia, Victoria or NSW.
We chose Melbourne (Victoria) because we get the four seasons. It can get pretty hot in the summer (it tipped 40 degrees this year) but it only lasts a few days then it drops for a few days and then rises again. So, you get some respite between hot days. Winter can get a bit chilly - it's really like UK weather but not as extreme.
All the States have beaches and property will be more expensive in some States than others. Have a look at the sticky at the top of the page "please read....", it's got lots of info.
