Hi Geordie
Here is also a good place to have a look around
New Zealand Immigration: The Free Guide: NZ Immigration
Moving to a new country is never easy and it is always a daunting task. Believe me; I have being doing it for many years now and with a move to either Australia or New Zealand it still remains a major change in life.
All I can say is research, research and more research. There are lots of options in New Zealand and work a plenty. I have just come back from a weeks scouting trip with some job interviews included and my first impression was that it can only be a great place to live.
Some Kiwis are no doubt going to shoot me down for what I am going to say next; I did get the impression that life is a lot more relaxed and there are few matters that stress them. The hospitality during my stay was out of this world and it is our first choice of new location.
You will also find lots of info on this forum from folk down there.
You did not mention anything about your skills, etc but the link from Dolly will take you through that. The personel agencies are screaming for people and I had a reasonable amount of success with them. But they do need prompting on a regular basis. I would use them as a first port of call as the work to residency visa is probably the easiest route to follow once you have a job offer.
Good Luck.
