Important that he would have to be paid by the a French company ( i.e. not by his mother company if that was to last several years).

i.e. if he was nearly detached, then he would be still in the British system, but that it only possile for a limited time.

Further in france, it would be peferable to have a top-up - not necessarily for the baby, because most of the costs would be covered, but for you - at minimum at top-up to cover hospital costs ( here the coverage ( without top-up) is usually 100% for operations, but there remains rather dear items which you may have to pay yourself.
