I live on the Sydney northern beaches. Most of the boys grow up playing soccer, cricket, surfing. Girls soccer is also quite a new big thing, netball, basketball. It is a very sporty culture and life, by the water, cannot be overrated. I hate to be the one to tell you, but drugs are everywhere. I've travelled the States, been all over the UK, been through Europe and have seen it everywhere I've been. My advice to you is to move to a place where you can enjoy the lifestyle. Where I live - I drive to the local shops, park the car unlocked with the windows down while we do the shopping. It's perfectly safe.

However, in the Western Suburbs there is a larger element of crime due to a high degree of unemployment in that area.

Not trying to sound like a snob but, like most countries, it all depends on where you live.

Overall, Sydney's a top place.
