Floridians leave in the summer to escape the heat. Many retirees move to Florida for the warmth, but discover that temperatures around 95F (35C) for four or five or even six months a year is draining, even in a nearly totally air-conditioned world. It's good for areas that are high enough to have cooler weather in the summer for the southerners, but far enough south to have good weather in the winter for those from cold country.
