First we have never been to NZ before but cousins stay in both Wellington and Auckland and have done for over 40 yrs, the family photos of years of living there show us what a lovely place it is and can only go by what they say about the outdoor life and layed back life style. to be honest if we could afford to go over for a holiday we would but if we go it will be for good.
The kids are Dean-19 yrs he is in Army so will not be coming with us ,Conner-11yrs just starting high school this summer and Emma who is 9 yrs and the Double Surprize!!!,lol twins Jade & Robbie who will be 3 yrs on 17th this month. I feel the are all still young enough to adapt maybe the 11 yr old will find it the hardest? They are the main reason for our move from Scotland and UK in the Whole , we want whats best for them regarding having a safe yob free enviroment with better climate and outdoor sports etc many other factors whick you will have heard before ... but im sure you get the drift....
The company I applied to through Seek Recruitment was called Fletcher Building company it was Recruitment Consultant from that company who called wanting to Scott my hubby she said the company was interested in him working for them they were doorway which do timber door manufacturing as hubby is Supervisor in Productiion/manufacturing velux roof windows at present in UK, so she said his skills as Supervisor wouldnt be a problem to get a job through Fletchers as they were a big company, she said she would see manager about telephone interview at doorways then said thet he wanted to see scott face to face and if he got working visa then to go see them when we get over in NZ.
BUt we have been looking at getting working visa/permit and im sure we need to have a job offer? so i am confused? or is it work to residence visa?
It sound lovely where you stay i had chosen Bay of Plenty, but i think it will depend on where we get a job this job is in Auckland near Mt nearer south end prob be still to busy for us as we would like quiter area but it would be a start will have to wait to see what happens.
speek to you soon julie ;-)

Hi Julie,
Just a thought but when we applied for work to residence visas for Andy, me and scholar ones for the kids, the company that Andy worked for had to be affiliated and I get the feeling that this is the situation for all jobs gotten through New Zealand. Can you ask the company if they are an affiliated company?
As for concerns about your 11 year old, I think going by my 10 year old he is loving it with a capital L and this is our child who has Aspergers Syndrome, high functioning autism! He was devestated to leave his friends, he was miserable to begin with (for all of a week!) but now he is living a totally different life and even joined Tae Kwondo today .... never would have been done in the UK .... and he played hockey, touch rugby, did hurdles at Westpac Stadium today in Wellington (like Wembley Stadium but looks like a big metal cake tin ha ha) and anyway .... sorry to ramble on here.
Also, how long would the company be willing to wait for you and can your Husband not just arrange to have an interview, say, over the web using webcam?
We had to get a certificate of accreditation to go with our paperwork for NZ Immigration. Hope this helps.
Linda.
