Yes, as amaslam suggested you should definitely seek the advice of a professional agent or contact DIAC directly. TBH I've never heard of this problem before.

We do have a few agents who post on here and you can contact them via their signatures (SOMV - Veronika - posts fairly regularly). When seeking advice from an agent, always make sure they are MIA/MARA registered.
