There are several post along these lines (and I've written several times about why I love Mount Gambier
).
However another way to look at this is what you want as a family.
I hate hot temperatures so the North in Oz would be too hot for me, but I also hate frosts and snow, so that rules out Tassie and some of the mountainous areas which can get very cold in winter.
Once you know where you are looking for then you'll have a better idea of location and that will cut down on the areas that you'll want to investigate.
