1) If the application process takes longer than expected can we still head out in December with me entering NZ on a visitors visa (which lasts 6 months) and get the visa from the embassy in NZ?
2) We have been trying for a baby and in light of the recent news about pregnant temporary residents being sent home to have their babies we were wondering if it might be a good idea to wait in case we are successful and I end up being 6 months pregnant when I arrive and they don't let me into NZ. Could this be a problem anyway as it now says that being pregnant is no longer considered appropriate standard of health...(although I've had my medical already)?
Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated

With regard to 1) yes you can but all your documentation will be in London and they will transfer it to Wellington.......perhaps you need to phone London to ask the question. 2) If you are granted permanent residency and in NZ when you become pregnant then you wont have a problem it appears that the rules state that you are in NZ on a temporary visa either work or other type. As a permanent resident you would be eligible to have your baby in NZ .........that would be my take on the regs unless someone else knows better.
Good luck in whatever you do.
