You need to talk to the Australian Consulate in the UK. They can surely renew your Ozzie passport for you, and they may be able to tell you the status of your kids. The kids may well have dual nationality sort of semi-automatically (though sometimes they make the children choose between their two nationalities at age 18 or so), but you may have to register them with the Oz Consulate for it to take effect. (Or possibly you did that already?)
