If you check out the "Cost of living" thread at the top of this forum (you find it in the country section) that will give you some idea of the cost of food and petrol for South Australia. As the thread develops hopefully some others in Australia will post their costs of living as well.

Around here $10,000 a month would be a lot of money but I know that Brisbane is more expensive.
I know we have some members living in Brissy so they should be able to give you more details.
