Hi Jenna,

You may survive but I suspect that you won't have much of a life and if any unforeseen circumstances arise then you could be in big trouble. I've just done a quick conversion and assuming that the minimum you would need would be CYP375/month (I know that Cyprus entered the euro at the beginning of the month but my head is still uses Cyprus pounds) then that equates to approximately $945. I used coinmill.com to do the conversion for me.

As you are American you would not qualify for any health care so would have to go private.

You would also need to choose the area in which you were to live fairly carefully, on that amount you would probably not be able to afford a car so would need to be in walking distance of the facilities, it can be quite cold in the winter months so I would be looking at the lowland areas rather than the mountains. At a certain height above sealevel there are heating allowances but again I'm not sure if you would qualify so it would be best to play safe.

If your payment is in USD you would also be at the mercy of the exchange rate which can vary widely in both directions.

I hope this helps but if you have anymore questions feel free to PM me. (Just click on my handle at the top of the post and then use the drop-down menu to send a private message)

Dave.
