I did actually reply to this before but for some reason it was not posted, so here goes again. I am an English woman living in Penang with my husband. I am a qualified Interior Designer (BA from the UK many years ago) and on the point of forming a new partnership with an established team here in Penang, who I used on our own apartment at The Cove. I was impressed with their professionalism and hard work and I have to say that 'modernising' a brand new apartment was a concept that I had not encountered before - it was a learning curve to say the least! My role in the new company will be more PR than hands on and we all felt that with an increasing foreign presence here in Penang a native English speaker may sometimes be able to smooth over certain misunderstandings due to both language problems and different expectations.
