I'm not an attorney (nor do I play one on tv <g>), but I was for a while in an expat group here in Paris that had several US attorney members. Some worked for private international law firms with offices in Paris, others had set up tax practices catering to local expats. I also know a couple expat attorneys who were working for private businesses here - so there are lots of avenues you could pursue.

You might start looking at job ads in international newspapers and journals for the types of jobs you would consider. The London Times (Sunday edition), Financial Times (I think it's Thursday they post job ads, possibly Friday) and the Economist are good places to start. Or any large international newspaper where you can read the language. Or try the foreign versions of Monster.com (.co.uk for the UK, .fr for France, etc.). That will give you an idea of the job market out there for US trained attorneys and what sorts of positions are available.

For an elementary teacher, it's a bit trickier. Many countries consider teaching to be a "civil service" job, and may not be too open to foreigners or foreign teaching credentials, but there are always the international and private schools.
